European Patterns

European patterns are adorable. I look at the glossy pages of my Ottobre Design mags and oooh and ahhhh over the adorable clothes. The directions assume that you have a good general knowledge of sewing technique and piecing together clothing. This isn't too bad for me. I can do this.

But did I mention you have to trace the pattern from this:


Fortunately the end result is so worth it. Even when they are very flawed like so:



These pants are the "Iguana Overalls" from the 1/07 issue. They were a case of "I should just go to bed before I screw them up even more", but I stayed up because I just HAD to finish them. I am glad I did finish them although I should have paid closer attention to what I was doing and maybe have been a little more alert.

Another Euro pattern company I have grown to love is Fabernmix. I have made the Olivia dress twice now and plan to make more. Here is example number one:



You can't really see the cute little knotted hood on the back. I finished another one up tonight and will try to get pictures of Sweet Pie wearing it so I can show off the hood.
